Projects
Incredible Edibles:
We have registered to participate in the Incredible Edibles programme. Now in its fifth year, Incredible Edibles is a healthy eating initiative developed for primary school students and their teachers across Ireland. The aim of the initiative is to communicate the importance of food origin and of eating Irish potatoes, fruit and vegetables for a healthy diet – in an interactive way. Agri Aware’s Incredible Edibles educates primary school pupils about the importance of increasing their consumption of Irish potatoes, fruit and vegetables with the aim of tackling Ireland’s obesity issues. The project is also set up so that students take these important messages home to parents.
Turnip, lettuce, parsley and carrot seeds will be delivered after Easter and we will be sowing these, as well as potatoes in our School Garden. We will be completing 5 tasks: Growing; Learning about Food origin; Identifying Irish potatoes, fruit & vegetables; Cooking and Recipes; Analysing Potato, Fruit and Veg. Consumption during Healthy Eating Week (11th -17th May 2015). We are already growing strawberry plants, donated by Mike Fahy last Autumn.
